Working with the professional loan officer to buy your home is one of the keys to a smooth real estate transaction.

 

 

 

Sitting on a small regional plane this week, I had the brief discussion with my seatmate about using local mortgage companies instead of the big banks.   Keep in mind, this woman was not in the real estate business, so the conversation just casually came up.   The concept of staying away from larger corporations came up while flying United Airlines.... after the friendly skies were not so friendly recently.

 

 

 

As I have said time after time, Stay away from the large banks when purchasing a home!  Even the national radio talk show hosts, my experienced associates, and many others agree, the consumer is nothing but a number to the large banks, airlines, hotel chains, etc.   The concept of customer service is falling away at a rapid pace with the large corporations.  You are only a number....

 

 

 

I had to learn the hard way about using large national banks for home loans.   In my early years of real estate sales I had multiple transactions fall apart to no fault of the buyer or seller. It was the lender who couldn’t make it to the finish line.   I’ve since learned that if a potential buyer’s financial picture doesn’t fit into the little box the national banks have created, there is zero deviation from that product.   In short, if it doesn’t fit, no loan for the buyer.  Sorry! 

 

Everyone is different and every credit score is different, the concept of everyone fitting into one box of financial requirements is a thing of the long long past.  

 

  

 

When I started working with a dedicated loan officer with a local mortgage company, Century Mortgage company-Louisville, I was amazed at the ease of the transaction compared to the previous random loan originators the buyer would choose.   Fires(issues) began to be put out instead of raging.  With Steven's background at one of the large banks, if he can make it happen there, he can do it anywhere.

 

 

 

 

I now work with several local mortgage companies that have shown they are outstanding in their field.   Century Mortgage Company-Steven Hedegespeth is still my guy.  Everyone has a guy, right? 

 

Although Jason Lawrence with Fairway Independent Mortgage has become an outstanding resource for loans now that we have expanded into a team.  He has shown his past experience with that national bank I don’t like is not wasted, if he can do it there, he can make loans happen anywhere.
